where the light comes from–not enough time to capture the likes of yuri pleskun, jakob hybholt, matvey lykov, juan manuel arancibia or christopher wetmore with their slick back hair and sharp pieces in the backstage at damir doma but definitely one of my favourite shows in paris this time if not my favourite !
good news, the label’s pr promised a proper backstage accreditation for next season :-) …

The Tailored Man–Accenting a tailored vision with luxe fabrications, Kris Van Assche presents a clean showing for Dior Homme’s spring 2012 season. An attentive eye to suiting is a Dior mainstay, but where this season really shines is Van Assche’s fine execution of the simple basics. Outside impeccable tailored lines, the collection shifts into a functional mode with shirting effortlessly cut from leather and silk. Combine the easy shapes with a stable of alluring accessories as well as the draping of paneled outerwear and the new spring season is a modern delight.

day 2 of paris men’s fashion week started for me with issey miyake showing at their paris headquarters on the very charming place des vosges …
i had already been told that there would be no backstage access at all so got to the venue ahead to the show time hoping to catch a couple of guys outside of the venue; unfortunately for me (and for you), either the models were so well treated that very few felt like escaping even just for couple of minutes or most of them were just sleeping while waiting for the show to begin because of a very early call time, so i only managed to snap very few guys including benoni loos and george barnett before the 1st guests arrived …
just like yesterday for the mugler show i was then thinking i’d be able to sneak into the backstage after the show to take a couple of atmosphere pictures but again it was a no since the label’s staff was already clearing the space without any delay to make room for imminent sales appointments … not much luck either with models rushing out after the show except for guntars asmanis and isaac carew who didn’t have to run to the next …
sorry guys if it wasn’t a very successful one but it’s not always easy to work out a behind the scenes story when you can’t actually go behind the scenes and you are not there to play the street-peeper just like all those the sartorialist wannabes chasing the attendees !

Cut with Love–Issey Miyake has a tendency to gravitate towards the more relaxed proportions, but this season the label really lets the silhouettes out. Crafting a relaxing collection consisting of separates in large drawn out shapes and a myriad of colors, Issey Miyake’s man achieves a new chic. Dressed by irregular gradients and graphic prints, a comfortable lineup boasts an organic spirit. From sheer white trousers that effortlessly billow to affected pleats and lengthened shirting, Issy Miyake reveals one of spring’s inspiring lineups.

It’s in the DNA–Hot on the heels of our Request story, we share a love for DNA’s fashion-forward lot. Wearing humor on their sleeve, Axel Brorson, Christopher Landon, Gabe Byer, Guntars Asmanis, Luca Vigorelli, Mark Bland, Miles Garber and Peter Bruder gather for a quirky story photographed by Daniel Clavero. Truly a team effort, the work of makeup artist Marni Burton, hair stylist Mylo Carrion and stylist Angelo DeSanto come together with the illustrations of Natalia Jhete for an infectious outing of zany fun.
