Southern Charm–A polished fall outing from Billy Reid details the whims of the modest gentleman looking for all the right pieces with a special charm. Furnished in lush fabrications with impeccable details, fall layers provide for the quaint and rugged. Employing a lineup of semi-fitted trousers alongside tweed outerwear, cashmere sweaters and sharp shirting, a new wardrobe is fleshed out with complete trimmings. Accented with fur and accessorized with the chance carryall or leather footwear, Billy Reid’s collection prompts the continuance of a sound perspective that puts the timeless hero first, whether its tailored suiting or knitwear, ready to be worn in.

Marching Forward–The men of Tommy Hilfiger marched to a different beat for the fall/winter 2012 season. Trading in the American prep that Hilfiger has become so synonymous with, the lavish collection read as a rich set off the runways of Europe. Bringing together burgundy and black, leather and shearling, Tommy Hilfiger was simply ravishing. Armed with an aristocratic flair, delicious textiles delivered a sharp arsenal of arresting pieces. Accessorized with leather riding gloves, the show kicked off with tailored jackets and coats, functional and ready to be transformed at a moment’s notice, courtesy of tear away details. Championing the leather inset and bringing the elbow patch to the front for a divinely modern look, the devil was in the details. From pleated trousers and sleeve detailing to a fetching palette of muted tones, Tommy Hilfiger created an army for the modern age, bringing the ultimate luxury to the American stage.

Blissful Mayhem–Following a somber season, Duckie Brown designers Daniel Silver and Steven Cox weave their quirky narrative back into the collection, injecting the season’s silhouettes with volume. Offering up a perverted take on the gentleman, tailored double-breasted jackets are presented alongside baggy trousers and dressed in bold plaid prints. Latching on to elongated shirting once more, lengthened garments enjoy a relaxed bounty. Culminating in a dark palette with a strict uniform, Duckie Brown reinterprets formal wear for the modern man with ease on the mind.

DNA–Impressive to say the least, no face goes unnoticed when it comes to DNA’s choice of boys for each fashion week. At the top of their ranks for this coming fashion week are Miles McMillan and Alexandre Cunha. While Miles is coming into his own with campaigns beginning to follow his success on the runway, Brazilian model Alexandre is having quite the blue chip season that will no doubt follow him on to the catwalk. Meanwhile, new faces Alex Hammond and Chris Petersen will no likely stand out with championed talents Bastiaan Van Gaalen, Alexander Beck and others.

Shadow Play–Canadian export Matthew Lyn photographs DNA model Jeremy Young and Request rising star Jesse Shannon for the latest edition of Essential Homme. Featuring styling by fashion editor Terry Lu, the pair are cast into the shadows for a story featuring garments from Boss Orange and Boss Black.

State of Transformation–Crafting a minimalist collection for the season, Z Zegna creative director Paul Surridge channeled the 1920’s with an amplified focus on shape. Creating a core of narrow silhouettes for sharp suiting, the collection branched out with oversize outerwear, cut dramatically and featuring large detailing. A testament to impeccable proportions, fall’s lineup weaved its way in between shapes, wide and narrow, creating great contrast and interest. Transforming garments like the shirt jacket, leather made its introduction with rich color and spontaneity, only met by treated mohair. Altogether focused, Surridge’s showing for the fall/winter 2012 season culminated in easy garments given the luxurious makeover in terms of construction, fit and style.
