The mood at Neil Barrett’s spring 2011 showing may have been somber, but the designer captured a lighter atmosphere in his signature model portraits for the season.

Suited for the fresh faced or for those aged with experience, the latest collection from Agnès B pulls from many references to outfit a diverse audience. From the innocence of early nautical influences to the boldness of swashbuckling pirates and laid-back cowboys, spring’s outing proves to be quite the feat for the imagination. Altogether crafting a wardrobe of engaging pieces, Agnès B graces the season with great spontaneity and character.

Unleashing a parade of striking ensembles, Cerruti brushed up on the classics for a retro-inspired lesson on the demeanor of a gentleman. Loose and unassuming, but not void of clean lines, tailored separates and buttery soft leather marked a collection of sophistication and bad boy charm.

The genius of Juun.J falls somewhere in between the modern appeal of his garments and the timeless grace with which his creations move. For the spring season, these attributes were felt as usual in the draping, but contrasted by the strong tailored structure of jackets. Exuding a look of protection, but creating fragile sheer layering with a relaxing refinement, Juun.J continued a natural progression that made a bold move to the biker jacket and quite the finish with electrifying numbers.

Dries Van Noten sullied up his image for the spring season. Creating a street gang of relaxed proportions, the designer turned to bleach as this season’s main source of print work. From shirting and denim to pants, a clean canvas was dressed with the spontaneous resulting in a new look for Dries Van Noten’s much applauded man of sophistication.

Decisively tame for D&G, the latest spring outing treats their man to a preppy picnic, complete with fitted polos and cardigans. Donning espadrilles and relaxed khakis, the resort feel is fueled by an attempt to make tropical prints cool again. Alternated with checks, leave it to Dolce and Gabbana to make a passé fad relevant once more.
