
Joey Kirchner is a Canadian boy turned Givenchy man. He walked exclusively for the label during the fall 2009 season which jump-started his career. He has since walked for Roberto Cavalli, Emporio Armani, Bottega Veneta and Calvin Klein. Reuniting with Alasdair McLellan, who photographed him for Arena Homme+, Joey worked with the famed photographer for Barney’s New York as well as campaigns for Y-3 spring and fall 2010.

Caught somewhere in between the classic Calvin Klein image and a longing for a standout look for the season, the latest range from the label gets lost in a sea of awkward cuts, unflattering fabrics and a wide spectrum of color. Running away from the typical tailored suit and opting for sportswear numbers with the dial turned up, the drama factor outweighs the practical in a collection that may make a splash with stylists, but is likely to find a difficult footing with even the more adventurous of style aficionados.

It’s a Major model takeover for the latest campaign from Y3. Styled by Nicola Formichetti and photographed by Alasdair McLellan, designer Yohji Yamamoto poses for a team photo with Colby Jamar, Joey Kirchner, Nate Gill, Nate Nesbitt and Ryan Koning. In the spirit of team morale, the Major gang will return for fall’s advertising campaign.
