Men of Gaultier–As the godfather of androgyny, Jean Paul Gaultier introduces the first ever couture collection for men. Always masterful at challenging ideas of sexuality, the gender-bender feathered the collection with his signature sense of humor. Appropriating menswear to the extreme, trench coats were elongated and worn over voluminous skirts, classic suits were pristine in texture and fabrication, while silk creations were lavishly embellished with dazzling beading. Furthermore, feathered skirts, velvet capes and extravagant fur coats emerged as mere wardrobe staples for the designer, who continues to envision a world where the line of gender is blurred.
