Tasked with quite the season, DKNY’s man moves quickly through the fundamentals of menswear, transitioning from slimmed suiting and outerwear to casual layers. Constructed with militaristic aspirations in mind, the proposed modernity of the collection is translated into technical fabrics and an expanding silhouette. Making a move towards the all-occasion man, DKNY balances the classic sophistication of the suit and the comfort of everyday pieces cut from a subdued color palette.

Etro’s signature prints collide with fur outerwear for the house’s new fall collection. Taking from the earth and surprisingly enough, becoming quite the material boy, Etro’s man gets the luxe treatment with print adornments and animal motifs making the final cut on everything from coats to shoes. Just in case shearling and fur do not fill the quota for statement pieces, Etro rounds out a range of day to evening wear with rich velvet and gold.

Not deterring far from their signature lineup of tailored slim suiting and luxe outerwear, Gucci approached the fall 2011 season with an endless cool and a retro feel. Impressing with an affection for coats cut from leather and fur, the label rounded out their modern clutch toting character of a man with bellowing gathered pleat trousers that gave the collection its distinct spirit.

On the hunt, Moncler Gamme Bleu brought its usual athleticism to the table with a generous serving of plaid and the season’s hottest new commodity – a basset hound. When not playing it safe with hues of black and brown, the collection felt extremely festive with red as well as green. Composing this season’s uniforms, shorts, boots and quilted apparel made quite the statement while proportions played to a practical sense for a change.

Understated and hidden beneath the brim of a floppy hat, Missoni’s man makes a return to the catwalk for the fall 2011 season. More than enamored with the house’s signature prints, the latest collection tones down the colors and wears familiarity like a second skin. Humble and the epitome of the anti-trend, fall’s range designates knits as the outerwear of choice, piecing together similar separates for a showing that is intimate and at peace with the idea of just being.

Layered with tender love and care, Ermenegildo Zegna’s man made a sound impression with the house’s signature strength in craftsmanship. Piecing together tweed and houndstooth, tradition met the combative nature of the future with fitted looks, complete with belted holsters. No doubt outfitting fall’s hero, orange, red and burgundy added a pleasant touch to fantastically belted numbers that felt altogether masculine, while resonating a soft quality to be admired.
