Fine & Dandy–Gucci creative director Frida Giannini looks to the nineteenth century for the inspiration of her latest collection. Mixing various references, Giannini arrived at what she refers to as Bohemian Grunge. If course with no expense spared, the Gucci man was sent on this path with the ideal trappings for a luxe fall season. The vision of smart simplicity, crewneck sweaters and modest jackets made for the perfect contemporary suiting statement while ornate floral prints created a tapestry of enrichment. Dressing pants and jackets for quite the sartorial debut, Gucci’s prints were just one of the season’s treasured motifs. Working with velvet, silk and brocade, the show was rounded out by a nod at aristocracy, crafting pleated trousers and fitted jackets for the ultimate season of luxury.

Exploring New Options–Casting a varied lot of characters and exploring different silhouettes and color schemes for the fall/winter 2012 season, designer Roberto Cavalli turns his attention to the future. Toning down the color within reason, outerwear takes on the dominant role in a seamless lineup of layered ensembles. A man of several identities, Cavalli’s man dons a bright-colored cape when not donning a dapper bow tie for an evening on the town. Towing the line between timeless elegance and modern expectations, the collection reviews a well-versed venture. From tailored and fitted to oversize and playful, Roberto Cavalli’s latest collection showcases the fantastical whims of a clever wardrobe with infinite room to grow.

Urban Rock–Designer John Varvatos spins a tale of the streets and rock for the fall/winter 2012 season. Embodying a certain harshness in comparison to last season’s romantic laments, Varvatos taps into an element of youth. Bringing together garments in an almost reckless fashion, the mood is relaxed and the results more exciting. While laceless boots barely come to a close, oversize outerwear in various hues of gray bring comfort to knits as well as other pieces, tattered and stained. Featuring a wardrobe that possesses the potential to be both tidy and fantastically disheveled, John Varvatos dismisses the aspect of age for a collection that evolves with a little smarts.

Fashion Milano–The boys of Fashion Milano are out on parade and ready for Milan Fashion Week, which kicks off in under a month. Boasting a crop of fast rising recognizable faces, the agency is set for fashion week with heavy hitters such as James Smith and Linus Gustin leading the pack. In addition to young desirables Timmi Radicke and Taras Koltun, Fashion Milano packs a runway-ready punch with the luxe-prone appearances of casting favorites that include Johnny George, Jeremy Young and Jonatan Frenk.

In Your Skin–Fashion Milano model Marlon Teixeira covers the latest issue of Essential Homme, photographed by Giovanni Squatriti. Joined by fellow Fashion models Andre Ziehe, Chris Folz, Nick Rae and I Love Models Management’s Han-Su Kim, the lot are playfully under-dressed for fall with a cheeky story, outfitted by stylist Duffy Bergman. / Makeup by Rosario Belmonte (Closeup Milano). Autumn Classics–Nick Rae of Models 1 appears bundled in Melton jackets, slim fit chinos and knit grey v-necks for the Henri Lloyd fall 2011 lookbook. The Manchester based brand puts the ‘hybrid’ design at the forefront this season by re-examining and reinterpreting some of its traditional heritage pieces. Hooded tops find inspiration in 1970’s smock jackets while more traditional quilted jackets come fitted with Gore-Tex linings.

Nick Rae was an exclusive for Gucci in spring 2009 and has been a favorite of the label ever since. He was featured in Gucci’s Eyewear campaign and lookbook for fall 2010. Following his success at Gucci, Nick dominated the runway walking for Trussardi, Raf Simons, Dior Homme, Z Zegna, Just Cavalli and many more. His pouty lips and unmistakable gaze were put into good use in an editorial for Men’s Vogue China.
