Classic Man of Tomorrow–Nicole Farhi enjoys a relaxed outing for the spring 2012 season. Embracing a light color palette of neutrals and pure whites, easy seperates are melded with a futuristic motif for a collection that is as relevant as it is engaging. Creating interest with zip away fabrics, color paneling and a subtle shift in proportions, Farhi’s man stays ahead of the pack with a modern take on the classics. From harnessed shirting to the nylon polo and neoprene tops, Nicole Farhi reveals a utopia of focused creativity.

The Moncler Dual Off–The battle between classic European menswear and the athletic performance vision of Thom Browne continued at Moncler Gamme Bleu. This season’s sport of choice was fencing for the suit-centric designer – though, not far of a departure from the American designer’s aesthetic. Padded jackets, quilted blazers and sporty fabrications were all in the favor of Browne’s design regime. House signatures such as thigh high shorts, tailored suiting and eccentric trousers were infused with new favorites in the forms of fencing jackets, pleated skirt overlay and enhanced jock cups. It was a triumphant pairing of modern and traditional menswear with a dash of heritage and humor.

Generation Rebel–Neil Barrett turned the dial up on the cool factor for his spring 2012 collection. Always innovative with fabrics and executions, his latest offerings were of no exception. Trousers, cropped and pleated came in graphic static prints and a simulated hounds tooth pattern while military trench coats were updated with leather paneled sleeves. Raging with punk and a nonchalant attitude, leather vests and bomber jackets were paired with graphic tees for a casual outing, completed by cutout boots.

A Stroll on the Casual Side–It was a breath of fresh air at the spring 2012 presentation of Ermenegildo Zegna. Taking a stroll alongside the Riviera, it was a classic tale of luxury sportswear with a modern Italian twist. Perfectly apt for the spring and summer season, relaxed layering was made easy by lightweight fabrics in calm and soothing tones of soft grey, dust, brown and blue. Textured cotton knits, stone washed suiting and elegantly draped outerwear added a soft touch to the everyday wardrobe of the Zegna man.

A Slice of L.A.–Taking a page from West Side Story, Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg paid homage to the classic American film at the eightieth edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy. Kick starting a new season, Sternberg’s theatrical presentation of show tunes and live dancers, ready for Broadway, highlighted the All-American boy collection of rolled up denim, varsity jackets, lightweight knitwear and nylon jackets in an array of vibrant hues. In addition, the retro-influenced lineup offered a modern selection of tailored double-breasted blazers, cotton suits and nautical striped shirts and ties.

Nathalie–As spring 2011 nears to a close, Milan and Paris’ agencies prepare for the next season. Getting their models in order, Nathalie has the honor of being the first to debut their show package for the spring/summer 2012 season in Paris. Playing agency to models that include new Dolce & Gabbana leading man Daisuke Ueda and proven stars such as Tomek Szczukiecki to Philipp Bierbaum, Nathalie rounds out a stunning roster with runway regulars like Robbie Wadge and Berthold Rothas, with a couple of notable fresh contenders such as Russell Giardina.
