
The Next Brigade–Armed with his camera and thirty minutes for each model, photographer Brent Chua dedicates a day to several promising boys from Next. Captured with a clean beauty portrait and a selection of styled shots, Ryan Mertz, Henry Evans, Jack Lankford, German Ruiz, Jon Dartnell and Laurence McCrea each get their special moment.

Nicky Emmerson and Ashley Hodge come together for a new published venture appropriately titled Emmerson Hodge. Spotlighting one model for each issue, the launch gets kicked off with Ryan Mertz. Photographed by Nicky Emmerson with creative direction by Ashley Hodge, Ryan stars in three editorials. The magazine featuring Retrospective, Gigolo and The Breakfast Club can be picked up in Soho London as well as Artwords Bookshop.

Jonatan Frenk and Jamie Strachan lead a strong Next showing of models with quite the distinctive features for the spring 2011 season. From an infectious freckled Naleye to the androgynous attraction of Aaron Chisum, Next boasts a wealth of alluring characters. Pushing for Brazilian model Rodrigo Calazans or French up and comer Gaspard Menier, Next paves an interesting path lined with the faces of the future.

Major models River Viiperi and Roger Frampton appear alongside Ryan Mertz and Erik Johansson in Guapo’s summer issue photographed by Simon Harris. Styled by Steve Morriss in colors that are sure to make a seasonal splash, the campy gang enjoy a round of popsicles.

As the latest edition of Arena Homme+ proves, the western motif will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Styled by Luke Day in suede, denim and leather, Baptiste Demay, Pete Bolton, Ryan Mertz and Sid Ellisdon pose for the lens of Angelo Pennetta.

Ryan Mertz’s star power was undeniable and Calvin Klein agreed. He became an exclusive for the label in fall 2009 and has been rising to the top of the pack ever since. What came to follow were endless bookings for this young American. From GQ Italia, Numéro Homme to Arena Homme+ and W magazine, Ryan became a breakout star of 2010. He landed his first campaign for Gas Jeans for spring 2010.
