The films of Luchino Visconti serve as the inspiration of Robert Geller’s fall 2011 collection. Seeking to translate a rich style of composition into an easy wardrobe of separates, fall’s range brings images of elegance into the modern age with Geller’s signature cuts and craftsmanship. Reflecting Visconti’s world with luxe leather finishes and inescapable pieces ranging from waistcoats and jackets to trousers, the collection still managed to show a little raw edge. Showing a youthful hand, denim, studded accessories and lounge-cut trousers made the unexpected statement in a collection that was no doubt in the Geller vein, but also a break with the expected for a season of intrigue.

Buckler looks to Anonymous Art of the street variety to guide fall’s collection. Literally taking his runway show to the streets, Buckler provided a wardrobe of slim silhouettes peppered with a little moxie for the subtle artist of today. From little boxes and misplaced buttons to graphic prints, the latest from the label appeared by all means normal, but came accompanied with several surprises that were to be unpacked in the details.

Tasked with quite the season, DKNY’s man moves quickly through the fundamentals of menswear, transitioning from slimmed suiting and outerwear to casual layers. Constructed with militaristic aspirations in mind, the proposed modernity of the collection is translated into technical fabrics and an expanding silhouette. Making a move towards the all-occasion man, DKNY balances the classic sophistication of the suit and the comfort of everyday pieces cut from a subdued color palette.
