paris fashion week is nearly here and all the models have gathered in town for castings before heading to milan fashion week and coming back to paris on time for the shows …
since a couple of days already i kept seeing models everywhere in the metro and the streets until this morning when i suddenly had the idea to play some kind of paparazzo and follow the guys going from castings to castings to make some sort of photo report, an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ story at the men’s paris fashion week castings for the fashionisto ! i immediately phoned some friends at one of the paris model agencies and got the list of castings for the day; by that time i had unfortunately already missed the opportunity to spot the guys at yves saint laurent and louis vuitton, but
mugler, lanvin and cerruti were still possible targets for my 1st day of model ‘hunting’ …
after a couple of hours walking between the different casting places, waiting for my preys to show up, the result was quite satisfying with some of the biggest names from the international runways and magazines such as jacob coupe, arthur daniyarov, alexander johansson, marcel castenmiller, harry wakefield, paul boche, mat gordon, linus gustin, james smith, benoni loos, ty akintayo, jakob hybholt, johannes linder etc, along with new faces laszlo ricciardi, sascha weissenborn, corentin renault, ollie greb or seb amongst others …

More to Come–Next week, one last winterscape from Nella Balda will close the season with a new exclusive featuring the striking Thomas Hoefnagels.

Abandoning his trademark skinny suit and staging a lavish feast for fall’s production of a show, Thom Browne took guests on a trip back to colonial days. While models dined on slim pickings, Browne served up a generous helping of coordinated separates with a focus on volume. From puffed sleeves and wide-fitted knickers to trailing trains, the collection brought forth the typical drama tenfold. Although intensive work with silhouettes may have stolen the show, shearling, mohair and wool formed a rich wardrobe of layers, ready to be unpacked for yet another dynamic season from Thom Browne.

Hermés’ man bulked up for the fall season with a wardrobe modeled after the working man. The collection’s protagonist may be prone to getting his hands dirty, but the French house upheld their signature stamp on luxury. Mixing and matching the likes of double breasted blazers with leather ensembles, the key statement piece sent out by Véronique Nichanian came forth in a distinctive jumpsuit. Continuing a season’s focus on volume, the bulky silhouette fit right in with relaxed trousers and a hint of oversize outerwear for a cohesive showing.

Thomas Hoefnagels was discovered through MySpace. He immediately landed his first campaign for Aquascutum Spring/Summer 2010. This Belgian boy has since become the face of Giuliano Fujiwara, Frankie Morello, Benetton and Trussardi. Thomas has walked many major runways including Jil Sander, Trussardi, Gianfranco Ferre, Roberto Cavalli, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton and John Galliano, among others. His status was cemented when he became the face of D&G Spring/Summer 2010 and DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2010.
