Phillip Lim Spring 2009

Phillip Lim Spring 20091. Phillip Lim causes me to write in first person, which I absolutely loathe at the moment. Do not fret. I will soon try to put behind me three months of a professor who required papers written in the first person. I do not know what it is about Mr. Lim, but every time I see a collection, it is so charming. His designs do not come across as trying too hard, yet they are each unique to him and have that “It” factor. This season, he has dropped his “boy-cut”, yet somehow, the look or energy of the collection did not change.

2. Every season is full of surprises. Lim shows his menswear alongside his womenswear, only giving a preview. When the actual season comes, it is exciting to see so many new pieces for the first time.

3. Lim is an advocate of the man bag. Each season, he plays with interesting shapes, color and great materials like suede and leather.

4. When it comes to color, this man is anything but one-note. As seen in this collection, Lim uses everything from the dark staples of black and navy to daring, adventurous colors like yellow and red.

5. Lim’s collections are full-range, always including items like his trademark pocket tees and peacoats, as well as everything from tanks to trousers.

6. A piece for everyone. This season’s must-haves from Phillip Lim include one item in that delicious mustard color, a pair of the baggy over-the-knee shorts, and a refined pair of sweats. Tell me you do not love it and you are excommunicated.

The latest collection is beginning to arrive in stores. Check out the latest arrivals from Eluxury and Oak.
