Paris Fashion Week has barely started and it is about time to shift gears towards New York. Newcomer Austin Sherbanenko is preparing for his first runway show, which takes place on February 12, 2009 during New York Fashion Week. The Los Angeles based designer is showing the second collection from his label, ODYN VOVK. The collection titled “Death From Above” was initially inspired by musical elements as different as European folk, classical music, English punk and Norwegian black metal. Sherbanenko’s inspiration like these genres “is full of lost beauty, regret, sorrow, inspiration, nobility, and of the eternal human goal of searching for a meaningful existence.” In a simpler terms, Sherbanenko describes his fall collection as “Charlie Chaplin and Boy George [meeting] in a Leather bar and [joining] a Heavy Metal Cello band.”
