Q & A: Daniel Palillo

Q: What is your fash­ion back­ground?
A: I used to study at the Uni­ver­sity of Arts and Design Helsinki. In the begin­ning I started to study fine arts and then changed to fash­ion studies.

Q: What style would you clas­sify your line as?
A: Some­thing between Gothic, hip hop and heavy metal.

Q: What is your every­day wear?
A: I make clothes for myself. So I only wear clothes from my own collections.

Q: What is the thought process behind your sil­hou­ettes?
A: First project involv­ing fash­ion I did maybe 7 years ago. Was to make a cloth that defines you in some way. I made a over­sized black hooded sweater. So I think it started back then. I have always been into baggy things.

Q: What col­ors remain a con­stant to you when design­ing?
A: I am into black and white. I am quite a dark person.

Q: Graph­i­cally, where do you draw inspi­ra­tion from?
A: I had a lot of world end pic­tures in this fall col­lec­tion. If you think pic­tures with Mad Max or Blair Witch Project feeling.

Q: If you had to describe this col­lec­tion in adjec­tives, how would you describe it?
A: Big and black

Q: In the end, what do you hope to accom­plish with your line?
A: Just try­ing to make new clothes for myself.  If peo­ple like it, it is a big bonus for me!
