Rickard Lindqvist Spring 2010

Swedish designer Rickard Lindqvist never fails in deliv­er­ing a charm­ing col­lec­tion of not only per­son­al­ity, but qual­ity. Inhibit­ing a space that fuses clas­sic tai­lor­ing with both uncon­ven­tional and stan­dard style direc­tions that chal­lenge the norm, the designer pushes for­ward with ease and finesse. Next year’s spring sea­son is no dif­fer­ent. In a smart cheeky turn, Lindqvist takes con­tem­po­rary menswear and gives it an update in pro­por­tions. The suit is made fresh as cropped trousers rise higher and shirts take the path less trav­eled – explor­ing an extreme range of var­i­ous size as part of a scale-​​try out project.  How­ever, where the collection’s per­son­al­ity really jumps into hyper drive is in its use of flo­ral prints. Inspired by botanist Carl von Linné, the lively flo­ral prints add adven­ture to con­ser­v­a­tive suit­ing, while also result­ing in the collection’s most jovial piece – its sig­na­ture jump­suit.  All in all, Lindqvist rounds out another sea­son pro­vid­ing a well encom­pass­ing col­lec­tion for those who want safe long-​​term choices as well as the dare­dev­ils who crave some form of adventure.
