Brian Wood is the designer self-titled collection derived from the earlier Brian Wood exclusive label. After internships with Anna Sui, Sean John, and work as a design assistant for Andrew Marc and Vintage Red, Brian Wood launched his own line Brian Wood exclusive. The line served as an outlet to create and produce quirky t-shirts. Later, Wood dropped the exclusive and established another label, Brian Wood for his complete menswear collections. Brian Wood approaches fashion as a mixing pot. He tries to find a balance between high-end fashion and streetwear in hopes to create something that offers an alternative, but can also be worn. This season, over-the-top collegian meets streetwear.

Designers Nathalie Bouhana and David Sdik “carry ‘one look’ throughout each season, mainly knitwear pieces. No eccentricity but an elegant gentleman traveler with a slice of Belgian surrealism.” [Chauncey]
Kilian Kerner is the self-titled line out of Germany. Kerner was studying drama before he was struck by the fashion bug in 2004. Since, Kerner has created a menswear and womenswear line. Approaching menswear, Kerner is known for borrowing from the womens’ silhouette, yet finding a balance between femininity and masculinity. The touch of femininity is most prominent in Kerner’s dream-like draping of light-weight materials on pieces that best fit the male form. This balance creates a striking yet soft line.
Brazilian designer João Pimenta Filho launched his label João Pimenta in 2003 and has since been working on his vision to create a brand for the man who wants to take risks in fashion taking inspiration from dress of the rich and poor. His line is not for the faint of heart, but it is most definitely inspired; especially with the use of color. Love the vibrant, yet deep greens, burgundies, and blues.
If he is not already, Korean designer Zio Song needs to be added to your list of designers to watch. Zio’s label, Song Zio succeeds at creating a modern uniform for the fashion-forward man. Although there is nothing wrong with sticking to the basics when designing, it is an added plus when a designer thinks outside the box to create a cohesive collection that is quite distinguishable. Zio’s spring collection is picturesque of an unimagined society. The clothes look airy and comfortable, while carrying distinctive features such as the gold zippers, fraying, bamboo-like pattern, and grounded colorways. Also, the shoulders of his pieces are wide and cut at at a severe angle to make for an interesting silhouette. Well done, Mr. Zio, well done.
