Obscur Spring 2011

Awak­ened from a strangely calm­ing death, Obscur designer Richard Söder­berg pieces together a new Nar­ratif for the spring 2011 sea­son. With lit­tle to no trace of the expected human iden­tity, Söderberg’s gar­ments man­i­fest the indi­vid­ual in dark lay­ers of washed lamb leather and long exposed knits. Pro­pelled by both the soft­ened and hard­ened aspects of the collection’s sil­hou­ettes or bet­ter yet inter­ac­tions, Obscur’s lat­est col­lec­tion comes together as an expe­ri­ence for the wearer to learn from and incor­po­rate into the fab­ric that is their life.

Agi&Sam Spring 2011 | Thomas Penfound by Luke Stephenson

A new label bursts through for the spring sea­son with a gen­uine sense of humor and an inquis­i­tive eye for menswear. Blend­ing great con­struc­tion with play­ful pro­por­tions, Agi&Sam show­case their lat­est col­lec­tion with a fan­tas­tic look­book fea­tur­ing d1 model Thomas Pen­found pho­tographed by Luke Stephen­son. Guided by a bold new vision, design­ers Agape Mdu­mulla and Sam Cot­ton take their joined expe­ri­ence work­ing at Alexan­der McQueen and look to pop cul­ture for inspi­ra­tion. Inspired by the pop­u­lar­ized skew of Native Amer­i­can life pre­sented in movies such as Ser­gio Leon’s 1968 film, Once Upon a Time in the West, the duo were moved to cre­ate a col­lec­tion that dis­sem­bles these ref­er­ences for a mod­ern range with spunk. Enti­tled The Native Amer­i­can Coloni­sa­tion of Euro­pean States, the col­lec­tion inge­niously takes on a sim­ple sil­hou­ette that evolves into an engag­ing range of acces­si­ble sep­a­rates with an intrigu­ing dis­play of color and kalei­do­scopic prints.

William Richard Green Spring 2011

William Richard Green dis­rupts the expected to present a new spin on the nau­ti­cal motif. Look­ing beyond the sur­face for inspi­ra­tion, a peppy yel­low gives way to a dark col­lec­tion that rel­ishes in the less than attrac­tive ele­ments of the ocean with scales and a mix of pro­por­tions pro­vid­ing the can­vas for a meet­ing of aes­thet­ics. Whereas boy-​​cut shorts offer an endear­ing qual­ity, mesh inserts and tex­tured leg­gings lend Green’s lat­est out­ing a sur­pris­ing edge.

Fol­low­ing an early look at his upcom­ing spring col­lec­tion, Asger Juel Larsen offers a com­plete look at the new lineup with a look­book fea­tur­ing fea­tur­ing Conor Mack­lin pho­tographed by Ellis Scott. Find­ing his lat­est inspi­ra­tion in the 1930’s war­ship boiler rooms, prints and tex­tures come together in an inter­est­ing fash­ion that adds a cer­tain soft­ness to Larsen’s usu­ally raw image of masculinity.
