The last col­lec­tion from Marc by Marc Jacobs lived up to Jacobs’ sig­na­ture use of color, but the cre­ativ­ity felt sti­fled by the eco­nomic cli­mate, lead­ing to a range that felt old. For­tu­nately, inspired by the 80’s, Jacobs’ lat­est col­lec­tion returns to form for the spring 2010 sea­son. Embrac­ing a youth­ful zest and spunk, the col­lec­tion is actu­ally excit­ing. Offer­ing cuts that dis­tin­guish them­selves from pre­vi­ous sea­sons, Jacobs adorns them with a quirky mix of bright col­ors and prints. Pants are fit­ted, while gym shorts get leggy. Cropped over­size sweaters meet slouchy tees, while casual knit vests are along for the ride. Mean­while, clunky sneak­ers are strapped down for a mod­ern, yet nos­tal­gic look. Alto­gether, the col­lec­tion cap­tures a col­or­ful adven­tur­ous youth that is not con­cerned with long-​​term style, but instead a desire to live in the moment and we would not want it any other way.
