
Bananas–True to their offbeat name, all is well in paradise when it comes to Paris agency Bananas. Serving up classic faces alongside fashion’s favorite quirky boy, the infectious personalities are in intense demand and Bananas has the supply. At one end of the spectrum is bad boy extraordinaire Yuri Pleskun, matched this season with the charm of new kid on the block, Jake Shortall or furthermore, Eric Ramos. For dark and brooding, the striking Lucho Jacob is always a great match or for an androgynous flair, there is Jaco Van Den Hoven. From constant cover star RJ King to the classic blue-chip achievements of Nicolas Ripoll or Ryan Kennedy, Bananas’ shining lot comes full circle with a guaranteed fit for all Paris’ coming attractions.

Today’s Prep–J.Crew head designer Frank Muytjens looked to the paintings of Fairfield Porter and Rauschenberg as the inspiration of his latest collection for the label. Mixing various hues of the same color for interesting ensembles, the new range blended Porter’s fresh colors with the tactual knack of Rauschenberg. From militaristic pieces, updated from the archives or functional classics such as the two-button suit, J.Crew enjoyed spring efforts, complete with reversed prints, youthful cuts and a new-age timelessness.

Heed the Silhouette–Lacoste turned out a surprisingly fashion-forward collection with new creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista at the helm. It may have only been ten looks, but bold colors and strong silhouettes told a solid story for the spring 2012 season. Tailored shorts presented an active lease on Baptista’s outing, while outerwear gave the collection a beautiful structure for undeniable standout garments.

Layered Perfection–Kicking off the season with a light color palette and a flurry of easy garments – effortlessly layered in a signature fashion, Nicholas K crafted a strong spring wardrobe. Whether heavenly in white or taking a dark step in neutrals, the latest lineup delighted with light-weight pieces, draped seamlessly for a casual forray. Pairing sheer tops, cropped drawstring trousers, relaxed outerwear and other desirable pieces together, Nicholas K, once again, presented a collection that felt current with a well-grounded edge.

The Test of Time–Building up stars with a certain sustainability, VNY heads into the spring season with established models such as Sean O’Pry and Lenz Von Johnston leading the pack, while a bright young roster that includes Corey Baptiste and Malthe Lund Madsen continues to burn bright. Filling any openings with fresh new talents like Jack Vanderhart and Simon van Meervenne, VNY may just continue the streak of the it boy.

Fashion Harvesting–With a healthy green lawn perfectly groomed, the countryside barnyard party was set for Junya Watanabe’s spring 2012 collection. The literal interpretation of farmer uniforms produced desirable and uncomplicated pieces in the likes of overalls in denim and plaid, jeans with patchwork as well as rubber applications worn with durable rubber boots. Meanwhile classic utilitarian jackets and fitted blazers came together for a casual outing complemented by quirky detailing accompanied by charming prints. Alluding the expected sense of luxury, Junya Watanabe continues to stand apart from the fashion crowd with fetishistic seasonal themes.
