Smart Quirks–Petrou\Man takes a walk on the wild side for the spring 2012 sea­son, mix­ing designer Nico­las Petrou’s pen­chant for prints with a sharp uni­form. Derived from earthy pig­ments and blues, cropped trousers, waist­coats and other coor­di­nat­ing pieces came together with an atten­tion to pat­terned shapes. As shoul­ders were halved and ankles elas­ti­cized, clean clas­si­cism was trans­formed with a con­tem­po­rary nod to quirk. /​ Styling by Julie Rago­lia.

Yigal Azrouël Spring 2012 | New York Fashion Week

Rework­ing Menswear–Slowly unrav­el­ing clas­sics and cre­at­ing a mod­ern wardrobe of great relax­ation, Yigal Azrouël set his lat­est col­lec­tion to the tune of revamped accents. Turn­ing out a range where the casual com­po­nents eas­ily melded with more fashion-​​forward sta­ples, Azrouël’s idea of spring came to fruition with a multi-​​faceted man of style. Tak­ing easy ready to wear pieces like the sweat­shirt and merg­ing it with strong gar­ments like the leather jacket, the first of many hybrids was born. From athletic-​​geared trousers and tops to more business-​​prone jack­ets, com­plete with relaxed tai­lor­ing and color block­ing, the sea­son deliv­ered an enor­mous selec­tion of strong standbys.

Dig­i­tal prints, acid washes, shim­mer­ing fab­ri­ca­tions and sheer assets marked an eclec­tic range for those that like to be seen. Loud, but ready for con­stant tran­si­tions, Custo Barcelona’s lineup, con­sisted of tanks, shirt­ing and jack­ets, pro­vid­ing for easy spring/​summer lay­er­ing with mod­ern fits.

Y-​​3 Spring 2012 | New York Fashion Week

Easy Times at Yohji High–Yohji Yamamoto sent the Y-​​3 lad back to school for the spring 2012 sea­son. Neat and tidy, save for play­ful pro­por­tions and a lit­tle spon­tane­ity, Yamamoto made a mod­est stride. Dressed sharp and to impress, with a per­son­al­ity sprin­kled accord­ingly, quirk as well as struc­ture came together as blaz­ers founds them­selves paired with plaid num­bers or loose sil­hou­ettes con­structed bot­toms. A fusion of Yamamoto’s trade­mark cuts and Adi­das’ sporty incli­na­tion, the col­lec­tion was a cool walk in the park.

The City Man–Demon­strat­ing com­fort and style can seam­lessly coex­ist, Bespo­ken deliv­ered a col­lec­tion of menswear essen­tials with an effort­less con­tem­po­rary cool. Fea­tur­ing a relaxed state of mind, loose tai­lor­ing and breath­able fab­ri­ca­tions were employed for a non­cha­lant sophis­ti­ca­tion.
