Dark Truce–Staging his debut runway show for his namesake label, Alexandre Plokhov kicked off the evening with dark glamour taking the reigns. Creating svelte figures, clad in black, slender trousers came together with long skirts, paired with elongated tops. From a sleeveless apron-cut blazer and asymmetrically fastened jacket to ultra-glam accessories that included both gloves and shawls, Plokhov treated the New York audience with a rebellious gamble before showing a hand at more structured wears. Loosely tailored, the pin-striped suit made an appearance, featuring an offbeat silhouette … a fitted cropped jacket, plunging neckline, complete with trousers featuring a loosely draped crotch. Blending suiting with tunics and knitwear, Plokhov made the return to more bold garments by the collection’s end, experimenting with silhouettes and shape for a structured uniform, juxtaposed with slick leather for a strong final impression.

Edge on the Western Front–Lending their layered cool a fresh new edge, Nicholas K visited the west for the inspiration of their fall/winter 2012 collection. Crafting their own Man of Black, but sure to include their signature penchant for fleshed out neutrals, a tough exterior was brought forth with strong outerwear. Structured and lined, the shining moment to many an ensemble, coats were weaved in as the perfect companion to a wide array of knitwear. While a couple of pieces were loosely draped with toggles, more traditional pieces offered bouts of classic menswear for the highly accessible wardrobe. Treated with cowl necks and accessorized with leather holsters as well as hats, Nicholas K’s latest collection debuted with an impressive charm that saw the brand demonstrating the elasticity of their welcomed aim at a consistent aesthetic that marries function to style.

Request–Turning to photographer Stefani Pappas once more to capture the creative for this season’s show package, Request lends their boys a little edge with a subway shoot — not that they need it. With regular bad boys Yuri Pleskun and Cole Mohr available for the fashionable plunge, Request keeps their board in top shape. There’s the always popular David Agbodji, the strapping Arthur Kulkov as well as standout up and comers, ranging from Misa Patinszki to Baptiste Radufe. Add to the mix, a fast-rising Jesse Shannon or recent Request recruit Willy Cartier and you have an agency packing solid muscle, the fashion variety if course.

Raw Sophisticate–Yohji Yamamoto has always possessed the fine ability of being able to take honest garments and lend them a regal spirit, whether cut from luxurious fabrications or crafted on the mend with anything but riches on the mind. The fall/winter 2012 season is no different. Somehow, Yamamoto creates a romantic figure of his man, dressing down his signature loosely fitted suiting with oversize wraps in muted earth tones. Enjoying a little humor with floppy pipe top hats, a subtle cheeky image is juxtaposed with the somber mood, created by outerwear boasting militaristic insignia. Belonging to the same varied world, elegance is abound with coats baring gold buttons, prim white neck ties and an interesting take on the London banker. Altogether the perfect style palette for the season, Yamamoto once again excels with an aesthetic that once again feels fresh.

Capturing Chris–Strewn with a sundry of organics around his neck, Request model Chris Arundel meets our eyes once again with another endearing photo shoot, this time captured by photographer and stylist Olivia Locher. / Grooming by Caroline Lucas.

New Madison–Dynamic easily describes the quality of New Madison’s show package for the upcoming season. From the always working Isaac Carew to the highly demanded Gerhard Freidl to stunning faces like Patrick Kafka, the agency has no issue in the star department. Rounding out the package with edgy and popular choice — Alex Dunstan, New Madison continues a fantastic streak with faces, new and old that include Alexander Johansson, Tommy Kristiansen and Joao Zavaski.
