Phillip Lim Fall 2008

I was about to go to bed late last night when I decided to check the Phillip Lim web­site for fall updates as I do reli­giously every­day and finally fall look­book images were posted. Need­less to say, I didn’t go to bed, because 1) Phillip Lim is one of my favorite design­ers & 2) The fall col­lec­tion is AMAZING. No words can do this col­lec­tion jus­tice so I’m going to let it speak for itself. But one thing for sure, I will be pick­ing up sev­eral pieces this fall.

Filippa K Fall 2008

First, thanks to Paolo for the heads up that Fil­ippa K updated their site!  Though, I can’t even dis­cuss the clothes here.  I’m lust­ing over the boots.  But, wait…I lie.  The shirt in the last pic­ture caught my inter­est.  I would never wear it, but it is funny regard­less.  Back to the boots.  These look­book images pro­vide excel­lent exam­ples of how to wear boots for the fall/​winter.  You can tuck in or leave untucked, but to be quite hon­est, I pre­fer tuck­ing in if my pants are slim, because then you get to show­case the details of your boots.  For the boots pic­tured above, I really like the shade of the brown boots.  The color is rich and them being lace ups is another positive.

Jean Phillip Fall 2008

I stum­bled upon this col­lec­tion and the pro­por­tions are won­der­ful.  Take a look at the top right pic­ture.  The crop of the jacket is a nice change from the usual.  How­ever, I feel like this col­lec­tion is bipo­lar.  It’s like Slimane’s appren­tice bat­tling with Dior Homme on acid aka under Kris Van Assche’s direc­tion.  I’ll leave at that.  Other than the above, this col­lec­tion is def­i­nitely a gem.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen Fall 2008

This is a case where I’m at a lost for words.  There are so many things about this col­lec­tion I like.  Sec­ond row, third pic­ture; I like the gray cable knit sweater and the styling of the shirt tied around the waist.  Lately, I’ve been obsess­ing over the color bur­gundy, but have yet to add any pieces of that color to my wardrobe.    The bur­gundy shirt in the third row, third pic­ture worn under the suit is an impres­sive look and only com­pels me to actu­ally begin my search.  I love it when col­ors pop with­out being obnox­ious; think neon green, orange, aqua, etc.  I’m also lik­ing the high waisted pants in the last pic­ture.  Lastly, the boots look great with these looks.  A shout out to Paolo.  If you were still uneasy about boots, you should be order­ing a pair right this moment.

Details to take note of:

1. The waist­coat pic­tured in the first row sports a nice cir­cu­lar cut.

2. The gloved sleeves of the zip­pered sweater pic­tured in the sec­ond row.  Acne Jeans did this last fall and I loved it.

3. The final pic­ture in the third row.  The pos­si­bil­ity of lay­er­ing long non-​​traditional pieces under blaz­ers is intriguing.
