I was about to go to bed late last night when I decided to check the Phillip Lim website for fall updates as I do religiously everyday and finally fall lookbook images were posted. Needless to say, I didn’t go to bed, because 1) Phillip Lim is one of my favorite designers & 2) The fall collection is AMAZING. No words can do this collection justice so I’m going to let it speak for itself. But one thing for sure, I will be picking up several pieces this fall.
First, thanks to Paolo for the heads up that Filippa K updated their site! Though, I can’t even discuss the clothes here. I’m lusting over the boots. But, wait…I lie. The shirt in the last picture caught my interest. I would never wear it, but it is funny regardless. Back to the boots. These lookbook images provide excellent examples of how to wear boots for the fall/winter. You can tuck in or leave untucked, but to be quite honest, I prefer tucking in if my pants are slim, because then you get to showcase the details of your boots. For the boots pictured above, I really like the shade of the brown boots. The color is rich and them being lace ups is another positive.

I stumbled upon this collection and the proportions are wonderful. Take a look at the top right picture. The crop of the jacket is a nice change from the usual. However, I feel like this collection is bipolar. It’s like Slimane’s apprentice battling with Dior Homme on acid aka under Kris Van Assche’s direction. I’ll leave at that. Other than the above, this collection is definitely a gem.
This is a case where I’m at a lost for words. There are so many things about this collection I like. Second row, third picture; I like the gray cable knit sweater and the styling of the shirt tied around the waist. Lately, I’ve been obsessing over the color burgundy, but have yet to add any pieces of that color to my wardrobe. The burgundy shirt in the third row, third picture worn under the suit is an impressive look and only compels me to actually begin my search. I love it when colors pop without being obnoxious; think neon green, orange, aqua, etc. I’m also liking the high waisted pants in the last picture. Lastly, the boots look great with these looks. A shout out to Paolo. If you were still uneasy about boots, you should be ordering a pair right this moment.
Details to take note of:
1. The waistcoat pictured in the first row sports a nice circular cut.
2. The gloved sleeves of the zippered sweater pictured in the second row. Acne Jeans did this last fall and I loved it.
3. The final picture in the third row. The possibility of layering long non-traditional pieces under blazers is intriguing.
