Future Champions–Olympic dreams come early as View models Sam Webb and Chris Doe as well as Traffic’s Joan Mirangels are enlisted for an active spread in the latest edition of GQ Spain. Linked up with longtime collaborators, photographer Sergi Pons (Motif Management) and stylist Miguel Arnau (Motif Management), the pair hit the sports arena for a colorful editorial.

English Rooting–Looking for the foundation of his fall/winter 2012 collection, Simon Spurr turned to images of London by Robert Frank. Taking into account early twentieth century style and heading down a modern course, references that include Tommy Nutter’s reinterpreted suit of the 1960’s come into play as Spurr dissects suiting for a relevant edge. Bringing together rich burgundy, brown, navy and other solid colors for a collection dressed in plaids and tweeds, subtle updates were introduced. From leather trousers and a magnified hounds tooth print to a signature penchant for fabric insets, Simon Spurr’s latest efforts resulted in a sound showing, highlighting a sartorial flair juxtaposed with modern sentiments.

New World–Looking to bring a new dimension to his celebrated vision on tailored classics, Giorgio Armani revamped the standard silhouette, embracing stretch fabrics and loose fits for fall’s collection. Accenting a familiar black and gray palette with bursts of bright blue, Armani’s man was immediately sharp, but relaxed as separates made the move between traditional and modern. While velvet pants ballooned in shape, only to fall into a tapered finish, the double-breasted jacket was at once laid-back. Altogether a seamless mix of two worlds, Giorgio Armani’s fall/winter 2012 collection turned out a phenomenal showing that pitted impeccable construction against bold design.

Sartorial Layering–Daniele Alessandrini looks to smart layering for the fall/winter 2012 season. Taking the twinset and reinterpreting it for outerwear, clever jackets remain light-weight but warm with a blanket lining. Subtly mixing prints, an autumn landscape contributes to the image of a man on the go with suiting and casualwear blending together for one cohesive wardrobe. From the strong field jacket to classics like the duffle coat, Daniele Alessandrini remains relevant for the modern man with an offering of tradition and trend.

The Collector–Positioning his man as a collector of beautiful things, Salvatore Ferragamo creative director Massimiliano Giornetti crafts a rich collection using a tapestry inspired by the urban landscape. Whether it is in the vibrant evening lights of blue and red or in the charcoal asphalt, Giornetti masters a strong color palette, creating a sharp wardrobe of suiting, outerwear and accessories. From intricate prints that entice to the smart double breasted blazer or the allure of velvet, Salvatore Ferragamo’s fall/winter 2012 collection finds impeccable lines and classicism at its best.
