Next Wave Star­dom–Part one of a two-​​part series, this month’s edi­tion of GQ Tai­wan looks to Chiun-​​Kai Shih to once again cap­ture the next wave of tal­ent, this time around with our help in cast­ing. Rep­re­sent­ing a spec­trum of client favorites, run­way reg­u­lars and edi­to­r­ial stars, the boys come together for a rus­tic autumn story with a touch of ele­gance. Ready­ing for a cold fall, the lat­est fash­ions from Dior Homme, Etro, Gucci and other labels are curated by styl­ist Brent Austin Coover. Stum­bling into Mod­el­ing–Kick­ing off a mod­el­ing career after work with Ryan McGin­ley, DNA model Mar­cel Cas­ten­miller has a ver­sa­tile yet spe­cial qual­ity that has seen the model trans­formed through­out the sea­sons from grunge and more sophis­ti­cated aes­thet­ics to a cur­rent star in Tommy Hilfiger’s fam­ily lineup for the designer’s con­tin­u­ing inter­na­tional cam­paign. A Fusion of a Man–Los Vladimirovich enlists Mar­cel Cas­ten­miller for their spring 2012 look­book of sophis­ti­cated angst, lensed by Gio­vanni Cer­vantes. Play­ing with sil­hou­ettes, a semi-​​relaxed struc­ture lends itself to the dis­sec­tion of tra­di­tional menswear, result­ing in a new selec­tion of detail-​​driven gar­ments for the mod­ern cus­tomer. Solemn in color, but spir­ited in exe­cu­tion, the chic lineup comes together with cre­ative color block­ing, sub­tle shifts in pro­por­tion and an easy atti­tude.
