Gucci Fall/​Winter 2012 | Milan Fashion Week

Fine & Dandy–Gucci cre­ative direc­tor Frida Gian­nini looks to the nine­teenth cen­tury for the inspi­ra­tion of her lat­est col­lec­tion. Mix­ing var­i­ous ref­er­ences, Gian­nini arrived at what she refers to as Bohemian Grunge. If course with no expense spared, the Gucci man was sent on this path with the ideal trap­pings for a luxe fall sea­son. The vision of smart sim­plic­ity, crew­neck sweaters and mod­est jack­ets made for the per­fect con­tem­po­rary suit­ing state­ment while ornate flo­ral prints cre­ated a tapes­try of enrich­ment. Dress­ing pants and jack­ets for quite the sar­to­r­ial debut, Gucci’s prints were just one of the season’s trea­sured motifs. Work­ing with vel­vet, silk and bro­cade, the show was rounded out by a nod at aris­toc­racy, craft­ing pleated trousers and fit­ted jack­ets for the ulti­mate sea­son of luxury.

John Richmond Fall/​Winter 2012 | Milan Fashion Week

A Per­son­al­ity–Infus­ing every­day wear with glam­our, John Rich­mond put on quite the show for the fall/​winter 2012 sea­son. In a world of his own, Richmond’s man hit the cat­walk with the utmost style, impress­ing in var­ied gar­ments, rang­ing from treated denim to luxe evening jack­ets. Spar­ing no expense, leather, fur and other fab­ri­ca­tions accented menswear sta­ples with the parka, duf­fle coat as well as other sig­na­ture pieces mak­ing an appear­ance. Encom­pass­ing the wide spec­trum of style, tees to printed jack­ets made a strong impact. Whether play­ing it low-​​key in a black num­ber or draw­ing atten­tion with inten­sive print work, John Rich­mond revealed a sea­son of desired elegance.

Iceberg Fall/​Winter 2012 | Milan Fashion Week

Style Syn­ergy–Ital­ian label Ice­berg calls upon heavy knits for a sea­son where the mood is light and the atti­tude laid-​​back. Don­ning relaxed trousers, the men of Ice­berg strolled down the cat­walk, lay­ered in light­weight knits and out­er­wear. From lush speck­led sweaters to chunky over­size cardi­gans, the label show­cased a sea­son of con­ve­nience. Inter­change­able in every sense, the col­lec­tion car­ried the same ease from casual day­wear to more pol­ished wears, fur­nished from leather and fin­ished with a tuxedo.

Sar­to­r­ial Lay­er­ing–Daniele Alessan­drini looks to smart lay­er­ing for the fall/​winter 2012 sea­son. Tak­ing the twin­set and rein­ter­pret­ing it for out­er­wear, clever jack­ets remain light-​​weight but warm with a blan­ket lin­ing. Sub­tly mix­ing prints, an autumn land­scape con­tributes to the image of a man on the go with suit­ing and casu­al­wear blend­ing together for one cohe­sive wardrobe. From the strong field jacket to clas­sics like the duf­fle coat, Daniele Alessan­drini remains rel­e­vant for the mod­ern man with an offer­ing of tra­di­tion and trend.

Struc­turally Sound–Designer Italo Zuc­chelli deliv­ers another tech­ni­cal lineup for Calvin Klein Collection’s fall/​winter 2012 sea­son. Com­bin­ing ele­ments of relaxed tai­lor­ing with a sporty atti­tude, long boxy sil­hou­ettes dis­tin­guish out­er­wear, cut from leather and nylon. Insu­lated for the cold, quilted jack­ets join a range of lay­ered short-​​sleeved tops, paired with sweaters. Dressed with geo­met­ric graph­ics, the col­lec­tion even­tu­ally makes a depar­ture from the mod­ern clas­sics for an edgy touch of leather, adorn­ing pants and blazer jack­ets for a strong finish.

The Art of Rac­ing–Brazil­ian race car dri­ver Ayr­ton Senna served as the muse of designer Thom Browne’s lat­est col­lec­tion for Mon­cler Gamme Bleu. Lend­ing his quirky cre­ations a new dimen­sion, yel­low, red and white dressed an enter­tain­ing wardrobe, fit for the spec­ta­tor. Start­ing the show with padded jump­suits and mov­ing towards shrunken tai­lored gar­ments, cheer­ful suit­ing sep­a­rates cham­pi­oned Browne’s race car dri­ver. Even­tu­ally arriv­ing at his sig­na­ture palette of gray and navy, volume-​​induced jack­ets, long coats as well as lay­ered cold-​​weather essen­tials com­pleted another sea­son of fun for the beloved designer.
