With a ski pass in hand and voluminous layering at work, D&G’s models are ready to hit the slopes. Juxtaposing a formal sensibility with the casualness of winter’s outdoor sports, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana set in motion a playful season of that caters to many functions. While ski pants and jeans are loose and low-slung, knits are either fitted or chunky for use as outerwear. Meanwhile, in a typical Dolce & Gabbana fashion, evening wear makes an appearance in a striking winter white, proving that no matter the location, the D&G man is set – even if that includes a Mickey Mouse motif.

Tailored to the strapping young gentleman, Moschino’s latest collection interjects a certain informality into streamlined suiting. Dressed for autumn, zippers, emblems and colored panels find an unexpected home on the range’s jackets, while denim as the common denominator is thrown in to resonate this season’s desired casualness.

One thing that cannot be denied is the fact that Dan and Dean Caten know how to stage a show. For their fall 2010 collection, the Dsquared² designing duo sent their models down the runway in the usual array, but covered in blood. With pants slung low and an athletic motif that included oversize jerseys, Dsquared²’s man was the epitome of glamorized rage. However, scrapes and split lips could not distract from the collection’s special appeal that happened to include sequins, leather and a daring attempt at sheer material for fall. Love it or hate it, the Caten brothers always manage to turn a head or two and this season is no different.

Giorgio Armani turns to blue, black and gray this season to dress his man in an array of prints and geometrics. Using the silhouette as a tapestry, conventional fabrics are given an intimate impression with the blending of romantic undertones and sporty aspirations. Altogether, Armani delivers a collection that improves upon last season with a finely executed vision that sets his artistic range apart from his contemporaries.

The most important point on the agenda this season for Moncler Gamme Bleu was not to forget to wake the models. Beginning the show in a sleeping state, the models were awoken from cots to begin suiting up for winter’s cold. In a cheeky colorful fashion, designer Thom Browne set the models up for inspection. Armed with snowboots, parkas, well-insulated quilting, knits and cold-weather accessories, the models bundled up for yet another delightful showing from Moncler Gamme Bleu.
