Hans Madsen Exclusively For Force Of Nature
Designer Hans Madsen is busy at work. Not only has he been working with Diesel Black Gold and Collette in addition to his own collection, but now he has teamed up with Copenhagen retailer Force of Nature for an exclusive collection.
The line consists of:
- A navy blue zip Jacket in washed wool and sheepskin leather with high quality linning.
- Black Wool cardigan with classic buttons and military shoulder detail – the cardigan is knitted in fully-fashion techniques.
- Knitted cotton v-neck tee in oxford grey – fully-fashion knitwear.
- Heavy jersey, classic striped tee with oversized arms.
- Tie dyed navy blue t-shirt with details in the neck line.
- Navy blue hoodie in high quality isoli material, with tie dye details.
Thom Browne Goes Euro
Thom Browne is the latest American fashion designer to go Euro. The designer known for his avantgarde menswear will be present at Pitti Immagine Uomo for Fall 2009. Browne will be showing a sneak peak of his own fall collection. Stay tuned. [Pitti Uomo]
Oh Karl! Karl Lagerfeld Does It Again!
Controversy should be Mr. Lagerfeld’s middle name, because wherever he goes, it is sure to follow. In a recent interview with Radio 4 Today, Lagerfeld shared his views on everything from fur to the thinning model epidemic. Taking on the recent criticism about underweight models in the fashion industry, Lagerfeld responded,
“In France there are, I think, less than one per cent of people who are too skinny. There are nearly 30 per cent of young people who are too fat. So let’s take care of the zillions of the too fat before we talk about the percentage that’s left.”

The Genius of Opening Ceremony
One of Ponystep’s latest features is a story on Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the partnership behind store and label Opening Ceremony.
Leon on Opening Ceremony’s atmosphere:
“So we said these are all the things we don’t want for our store. When we first opened up we talked about how much we loved shopping at thrift stores — Salvation Armys and Goodwills and all these kind of great junk shops. You’d pick something up and be so excited because you were the only one that had it — you’d yell across to your friend ‘look what I found!’ And your friend would be super-jealous once you showed it to them! Then you’d start piling clothes on your arm — five or six pieces. That was the inspiration, that fun idea of shopping. That excitement. Those stores aren’t perfect and that’s a great thing because you don’t feel you have to act perfect. You can take your jacket off, throw it in the corner and start really going at it through the rails! It’s a big aspect of Opening Ceremony that’s missing in a lot retail. We really look at things from a shoppers point of view, not a store owners’ point of view.”
