Acne tends to be on the cutting-​​edge when it comes to fash­ion, so it came as a sur­prise when the end of Jan­u­ary saw the pre­sen­ta­tion of a sim­ple, under­stated mono­chro­matic col­lec­tion. How­ever, upon fur­ther exam­i­na­tion, the direc­tion of the col­lec­tion begins to make sense.

The col­lec­tion is rep­re­sen­ta­tive of a 1960’s Bob Dylan explor­ing a mod­ern Euro­pean metrop­o­lis. Find­ing his foot­ing, he relies on core basics of the same color fam­ily, while incor­po­rat­ing sub­tle pieces of lux­ury like this season’s draw­string goat vest. Finally, his look is made sig­na­ture with boots that sport a wedge.

Acne’s unusual source of inspi­ra­tion demon­strates a fall col­lec­tion that is less about risk and more about build­ing an eclec­tic wardrobe with longevity.
