The Thom Browne Effect

Pre­sent­ing an alter­nate uni­verse rem­i­nis­cent of the era of stars like Dick Van Dyke, Thom Browne kept things uni­form at his recent Pitti Uomo pre­sen­ta­tion of his fall 2009 col­lec­tion. For Browne, this pre­sen­ta­tion was tame com­pared to his usual shows of avant-​​garde wear. Putting together his first Euro­pean show, Browne kept it sim­ple, show­cas­ing his impec­ca­ble tai­lor­ing by using mod­est col­ors and dupli­cate fits.   Have to love a designer who rec­og­nizes the power of an artis­tic pre­sen­ta­tion. The ques­tion now is if Thom Browne will ever hit the run­ways of Milan or Paris.
