The lat­est col­lec­tion from Whyszeck looks towards the past for a cre­ative direc­tion. Tak­ing inspi­ra­tion from the artis­tic dif­fer­ences between Theo van Does­burg and Piet Mon­drian, the con­cept of Neo-​​Plasticism cre­ates the frame­work for the fall col­lec­tion. Neo-​​Plasticism was rooted in the appeal of abstrac­tion and saw a return to the impor­tance of form and color. This meant the strict use of hor­i­zon­tals and ver­ti­cals along­side black and white. Theo van Does­burg later rede­fined Neo-​​Plasticism as Ele­man­tarism to incor­po­rate the use of diag­o­nals, “col­orized with dis­so­nant col­ors.” Whyszeck engages these the­o­ries in a mod­ern con­text through the use of “Neo-​​plastic” knit pat­terns, atten­tion to line detail, and respect to color. Moti­vated by van Doesburg’s “Counter-​​Composition XIII”, the col­lec­tion incor­po­rates vari­ants of gray, black, and earth flushed tones for its color palette. The afore­men­tioned ele­ments com­bine to cre­ate a min­i­mal, but smart col­lec­tion suited for all aspects of the mod­ern man’s life…
