Modern Struggle–Designer Tim Coppens makes his New York Fashion Week debut in great style. Inspired by French film Un Prophète, Coppens took the main character’s Arab background and married it to the necessity of an identity, regardless of the social constrains of an environment. Highlighting this struggle, a straight-forward streetwear approach was melded together with elegant lines and finishes for a dynamic collection. Light on shirting and strong on outerwear, panels and zipper detailing aided a rush of outerwear, fit for everyday wear. Dressed in navy and neutrals, a survival instinct cut in as Coppens’ man braved a subtle armor for the spring season. / Photos by Carl Barnett of The Fashionisto.
