Hayden Christensen wears a bow tie in most of the photos featured in the spring/summer issue of Man About Town. Bow ties have been on the rise now for a while, but I question if they can actually be worn in a normal setting without wearing the individual. What do you think?

As it goes for a lot of things to me it depends on the indivduals style and build. I think on the right person it looks good as an accent or accessorie. My eye can see it best on a tall slender build worn kind of casually, just my opinion. Hayden seems to pull it off well.

i wore one to a wedding…black bowtie, white shirt, beautiful gray balenciaga suit…everyone loved it 🙂
personally, i prefer a more neutral tie, such as black or navy, over something more colorful or printed…it’s more classic and easier to wear…anything too loud can just start to look cartoony

Bryan,
I think you captured my thoughts exactly. That’s why it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of bowties as casual wear. Most of the ones I have seen are loud instead of being simple and elegant.
By the way, that ensemble sounds amazing!
Jared,
What are you talking about? When I picture a bowtie. I picture a potbellied man on Wall Street. Now that is style refined. 😀
I do believe Bryan said it well too. You don’t want to end up looking like you should be wearing clown shoes and a red nose.
In regards for a bow-tie being casual wear…I can’t grasp the concept either. If anyone knows a way to make the two mesh well, please say so.
