Nothing says Winter (or Wintour) like fur. While the mercury’s been dropping and the skies getting grayer, it appears a few of the more daring gents Sydney side, like Ashley of Operator Please fame, have been experimenting with variations of fur…and no, I’m not talking about the trim on the hood of your puffa-jucket!
There are two note worthy styles that I have spotted out and about, firstly, the full fur jacket, generally in a cropped style, and styled in an androgynous manner, adding bulk to an otherwise slim silhouette.
The other, being a more subtle approach, with a touch of fur being added though a fur collar, or a mink draped over the shoulder . This tends to juxtapose the masculinity of the look, adding a newly refined edge, channeling an exotic Eastern European Count, of yester-year.
With the quality of faux-furs also constantly improving, I’m hoping fur is a texture that will continue weaseling its way into modern Menswear.

Plastique m’dear. Synthetic Furs are the only thing that will last more than 6 months in Australia. With the technological improvements in the textile industry the lustre and feel of synthetic fur is comparable to mid range real furs. Honestly there are so few real furriers left that real fur is mostly mid-range anyway.
I do hope you don’t wear leather, or felt with comments like that anyway.

These illustrations do not belong on TheFashionisto. I don’t know whose idea it was to get more people from around the world but someone needs to get rid of all this nonsense. The website is has been drenched in bad fashion from unknown and uninspiring fashion brands, to these lame sketches of people some guy randomly saw on the street. TheFashionisto’s purpose is to promote fashion, not random photographs that a fashion student took. TheFashionisto is supposed to be objective but these illustrations do not match up with TheFashionisto’s intended ideologies.
Wow, Justin. I had no clue that I created The Fashionisto for those reasons. The majority of the content I post is objective, but I thought (and still do) that individuals from a worldwide perspective have a valued point of view to offer. Do you read every page of a magazine? I doubt it. If there is content that irks you, just scroll on by. At the end of the day, I created The Fashionisto to offer a varied look at fashion whether it is through the eyes of a designer, photographer, stylist, your own or in this case in which I am happily expanding — contributors. Please do not be so jaded as to dismiss ideas that might not be up to your standards, but do have potential — fashion label or a new point of view.
I totally concur… but I do have mad respect for creative minds, just not feelin’ the copycattin vibe though. Good job though?
