Gian Romano is the first Filipino designer to showcase his collection at Singapore’s Audi Fashion Festival, together with international designers such as Gareth Pugh and Vivienne Westwood. Romano recalled, “It’s actually very surreal to think about it. Being able to show at the same festival with Gareth, Christian Lacroix and Viviene Westwood. While I was there, nothing sunk in. It was fun, but at the same time tiring, because everything was kind of a blur. But after, come to think of it, it’s very gratifying.” Just five years ago, in 2004, Gian participated in Philippine’s Mega Young Designers Competition and received a scholarship grant to study Menswear Design at Central St. Martins by the British Council. He also apprenticed with Three Asfour, downtown New York’s most conceptual and intellectual design collective. Coming a long way since, Romano presents his collection entitled “Fettile Derelicts” is about displaced forms and urban nomads; “taking part inspiration from how homeless people layer clothes during winter and coming up with a certain silhouette.”

  4. I’m sure Rick Owens himself would beg to differ. I really am not seeing the similarities other than these pieces would look great with Rick Owens in someone’s wardrobe.
