Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2015–In his own words, designer Christopher Kane best reveals the inspirations of his spring/summer 2015 collection, “So much of what I do is led by drawing; if something looks good on paper it usually looks good in real life. I had started with the idea of ‘flip book’ pages in the women’s Autumn-Winter collection, where the pages themselves were built into dresses – this had started as a drawing. I liked the idea so much I wanted to do more with it. In the men’s collection the ‘pages’ are scattered and are the basis for the graphic prints. Besides this illustrated quality, with lots of contrasting graphic lines, there are neon colors – I go back to them again and again – while the prints have been expanded into the tailoring and outerwear for the first time.” Among graphic prints that decorate not only sportswear favorites such as pullovers and oversized shirts, Kane treats tailored suiting to the same bold experience. Rounding out the collection of engaging prints and colors, Kane makes his vision more rounded this season, introducing leather bags for his stylish man on the go.
