Following People’s story calling attention to him as an eighth-grade English teacher and model, Sam Worthen used the press to give back to his class. Huffington Post reports that the 24 year-old model launched a GoFundMe page, where he was able to earn $5,255 that will go towards buying his students books. Worthen shared, “I didn’t see how my students knowing that I’m a model could possibly benefit them. I called my agent, George Brown, who at some point said the phrase ‘public cause.’ That sparked the connection in my head: to accept publicity and use it to raise money for my kids.” Worthen is challenging his sixty-seven students to read three hundred books as a class by mid-June.
