Gucci Goes Co-ed for Fashion Week

When it comes to Gucci’s androgynous style and creative director Alessandro Michele, the fashion house’s menswear and womenswear have been unified in aesthetic. Delivering a strong youthful image under Michele’s direction, the brand’s latest news makes perfect sense.

Beginning in 2017, Gucci will show men’s and women’s collections in one show. Michele explains, “It seems only natural to me to present my men’s and women’s collections together. It’s the way I see the world today.” He continues, “It will not necessarily be an easy path and will certainly present some challenges, but I believe it will give me the chance to move towards a different kind of approach to my story telling.”

Discussing the show change, Gucci president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri comments, “Moving to one show each season will significantly help to simplify many aspects of our business.” Bizzarri adds, “Maintaining two separate, disconnected calendars has been a result of tradition rather than practicality.”
