David Gandy occupies the spotlight once more with a new feature. The British model stars in an editorial for The Jackal. Donning a sharp wardrobe, David links up with stylist Gareth Scourfield. Collaborating with photographer Alan Clarke for the shoot, Scourfield rounds up essentials from the likes of Ermenegildo Zegna and Gieves & Hawkes. Meanwhile, David talks to the magazine about modern masculinity.

The 37-year-old model explains, “There isn’t one form of masculinity–the idea of masculinity is changing. We’re less transfixed on the alpha male than we were.” Reflecting on his career beginnings, David adds, “I came into an industry where it was about the androgynous, skinny Dior guy. But to me, personally, that’s not masculinity. It’s a form of it, but it’s not one that appeals to me.”

David describes his own vision of masculinity. He notes, “The idea of a Savile Row suit, that’s what appeals to me. It’s the English gentleman form of masculinity.” Asked to elaborate, David responds, “Well, yes, it’s much more acceptable now to be interested in clothing, your watch, your hair, grooming. And we’re less judgemental as men than we used to be. We’re much more open. We’re softening up a bit.” Read more on TheJackalMagazine.com.
