Fall 2010 marks the debut of Copenhagen-based label Uncommon Creatures. Designed by Christina Højris Ottosen and Jens Kold-Christensen, the Danish produced collection draws its inspiration from orthodox Jewish style. What started as a chance sighting en route to Brooklyn by Kold-Christensen quickly transformed into an “anachronistic journey” where western influences are married to the orthodox establishment. The results include recognizable tall hats reinterpreted amongst a parade of deconstructed layers that find their solace in dark silhouettes of protection.

  1. I've never been into fashion or particular designers these things never struck me as worth my interest. That has changed now and I lust for that black shawl coat. I only wear dark colors and dramatic coats with simple but unique pieces. This collection is great, but the rest of the outerwear pales to that exaggerated, tattered and lovely shawl. I don't like the pants, but still love the first (and last, evidently) outfit. The hats, especially the compressed looking one, are all cool and I've always hated hats! I will be following Uncommon Creatures and hopefully, will continue to drool over the collections.

  3. the religious undertones are very interesting. they def add another dimension to the clothing.
