The Modern Dandy–Presenting his fall/winter 2013 collection in Paris earlier today in a private suite at the Hotel de Crillon, Acne creative director Jonny Johansson was inspired by an exhibition of August Strindberg’s self-portraits that showed last autumn. An eccentric and controversial artist, Strindberg’s image as a dandy propelled the idea behind the collection. Referencing garments from the turn of the nineteenth century and reinterpreting military pieces such as the peacoat and parka for modern times, Acne creates a pleasant tension between contemporary motifs and historical cuts.
