Acne Studios delivers a fun, youthful outing for its fall-winter 2015 menswear collection. Pushing the idea of what it means to be a man today and what essentials are deemed important, designer Jonny Johansson plays with gender in highlighting fashion-forward trends. He explains, “The idea is to give people what makes them feel comfortable and at ease. English cut, donkey jacket, football. Then there is the new silhouette of leggings sports, I want to explore what it means to be male, and bring him in what we mean by style by man. A meeting between tailoring and technique, using tissues of English factories (duffle coat in wool, tweed and woolen clothes) next to nylon and fleece.”
“Tailored jackets in tweed have boxy shapes, referring to the suits worn in the first meeting between Gilbert and George, subverted by a detachable skirt in orange nylon. The sports leggings, worn alone or under elegant knee-length shorts, tie-pye prints combine to give a touch holistic yoga for men. The hunting coats are both long and short, while long translucent raincoats are worn over a shirt as a businessman with a strip exaggerated. Suits fleece zip-up panels meet tweed and nylon, and are an alternative to the jacket itself when combined with tailored pants. The numbers of a football team without a name are naively sewn to create an oversized sweater, while the mesh Football nylon are striped, but without number. The scarves make an appeal to equality of the sexes. Sneakers navy join hiking boots with teddy shoe.”
