for aw1011 sara lamúrias, the designer behind aforestdesign, chose to present her collection as an installation and video; part of “lab”, the new designers’ section of modalisboa, the event was held in the mude (the lisbon museum of design and fashion) …

called “i am a srange loop” after the book by douglas hofstader, the collection develops from the complexity of its creator to a partial and subjective existence in another and illustrates a theoretical-practical approach to the designer’s relationship with her creative process …
“my intention is to design pieces of clothing that are complex in conception but clear in their visualisation … in this way i translate that part of my creative process that stems from the exteriorization of a complex being into simple visual forms, forms that are transferred to a new personality who will give them a new reading, a new context … these complex shapes result from this intermingling of philosophical, mathematical and visual concepts which lead to this topsy-turvy creations … items to be worn upside down and vice versa, like a loop …”

cotton and wool fleeces, fabrics and knits … neutral tones and mixed colours … double garments …
