Based out of Amsterdam, Anneloes Van Osselaer’s latest collection titled “Spuk & Grusel” is inspired by concepts of spirituality. Van Osselaer’s view on spirituality appears to be the thought of using it as a coping mechanism – a method of escapism. Also associating spirituality with feelings of fear and darkness, it becomes a mysterious vehicle of endless thought. This thought process manifests itself in a monochromatic collection that is based on the concept of protective shells. Consisting mainly of oversized tops, the collection transforms into shells that cover the body, providing a shelter from reality and a home for one’s thoughts. Incorporating broad shoulders, billowing shapes and airy light-weight materials alongside experimental silhouettes, Anneloes Van Osselaer creates a new world that calls for acute exploration.
