Balenciaga made its men’s runway debut for spring-summer 2017 with creative director Demna’s Gvasalia’s first men’s collection for the French fashion house. Honing in on tailoring, the season’s focus was on proportions. Oversized coats and jackets with boxy silhouettes opened the show, contrasted against lean, cropped trousers. Embracing extreme opposites, Gvasalia also showcased extra trim tailoring with a chic double-breasted number. Injecting the collection with military references, cropped bomber jackets joined two pocket shirts and baggy trousers. Rounding out the lineup, brocade and lace added a bold gender statement.
