Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2014 Collection–For Balengiaca’s fall/winter 2014 collection, Alexander Wang took inspiration from the brand’s historical archives, designing a collection where volumes, couture-inspired shapes and details come straight from the past, but preserve a timeless sense of refinement. The influence of the brand’s late founder is quite clear in the importance of the shoulders in the structure of the silhouette, as seen by the great outerwear pieces, like the double-breasted formal coats with grosgrain details on the lapels, or the daywear designs, that combine comfort with an exquisite dose of vintage modernism. Textured designs, abstract motifs and metallic zippers that adorn coats and suit jackets prove an always interesting way to experiment with details, even if the collection is based on a classic palette of black, white and grey. The accessories for the fall season are luxurious but in a subtle way, thanks to clean designs, simple shapes and essential colors, and define a concept of elegance that surpasses the habitual idea of seasonal trend.
