Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing looks to the dark vision of fashion photographer Steven Klein for the French fashion house’s spring-summer 2016 campaign. Capturing Balmain’s safari-themed men’s collection in an unexpected fashion, Klein goes the way of film noir. Posing in a car interior, Balmain Army models Dudley O’Shaughnessy, Geron McKinley, Ronald Epps and Francisco Lachowski are front and center.

Discussing Balmain’s spring campaign, Rousteing shares, “Steven Klein, Pascal Dangin and I decided on a car-interior set, combined with strong shadows and sharp pops of light, to suggest speed and motion.”
Moving on the subject of model casting, the 30 year-old designer explains, “Every one of these models—Dudley, Francisco, Geron and Ronald—is a member of the ‘Balmain army’. They have a long history with the house, having worked with us on lookbooks, shoots and runway shows. This diverse and athletic group of men reflects the look of fashion’s new generation.”
