Balmain’s spring-summer 2017 collection was a notable departure for the French fashion house as creative director Olivier Rousteing solidified his own design signatures. Instead of an emphasis on sharp, tailored jackets and slim-cut jeans, Rousteing imagined a beach outing for Balmain.
Silhouettes were relaxed and draped as the label’s man embodied a more flashy spirit. Denim on denim catered to a layered philosophy with a 90s inspired light wash. Not to be outdone, knitwear, joggers, parkas and more were coordinated for a sea of monochromatic numbers. Balmain also showcased bold vibrant colors with a rich palette of orange, purple, blue and red. Long open sweaters joined oversized tops and fluid tailoring as the Balmain man declared himself the peacock of the season.
