There’s an interesting collision of cultures at play when it comes to Balmain’s spring-summer 2018 collection. Creative director Olivier Rousteing tackles a western Americana theme but filters it through a French lens. The American flag dissolves into a sea of stripes and stars as the Balmain man embraces a season of predominantly black and white.

Graphic to say the least, the collection goes bold with the French brand’s signature embellishments. It’s here that the lineup courts an androgynous image with svelte shapes and soft cuts. Elongated tops and Breton stripe tees come together with flamboyant jackets. Skinny jeans and ankle boots contribute to Balmain’s fashion-friendly uniform. There’s also a hint of fringe and a generous supply of studs.
