boo17PinFocusing on narrow structured suiting, Scott Sternberg’s latest collection remains true to the smart prep-style that the Band of Outsiders man has grown accustomed to.

Among neutral colored outerwear and suits with piping, the burnt orange blazer stood out as a much-needed, yet moody escape. Also if note was Sterberg’s work with tone on tone gray patchwork. The number falls in line with a collection that longs for color, yet the interplay of various shades of gray provides a noticeable outlet of expression.

This upcoming fall season, with a majority of designers playing it safe in the realm of gray and black, consumers are forced to rely on their own creativity to break from the norm. Instead of looking for new pieces to inspire, perhaps it is time to clean through wardrobes and drag out those pieces deserted long ago. Working with a base of dark monochromatic pieces, this fall aches for a discovery of deep purple, orange, green, and red.
