Brunello Cucinelli paints a soft picture for spring-summer 2018. The Italian label takes its elevated staples and applies a warm desert-inspired color palette. It’s here that smart linen jackets and trousers come together with casual essentials like denim jeans. Cable-knit v-neck sweaters, lightweight jackets, and utilitarian vests also join the outing.

Colors, shapes and details create a unique rhythm in the collection. Nuances inspired by the warm sands of deserts and the natural fibers ripened in the sun light up with the soft, intense, or bright and energetic colors of the earth. Formal lines and precious fabrics are always mixed with sporty garments and volumes. Details focus the attention on craftsmanship, while sophisticated contrasts enrich the collection without disturbing its essential harmony. From the combination of tailored elegance and modern dynamism, the force of a natural rhythm emerges, free like a long breath, intense like meditation before action. The collection is a balance between focus and movement, of contemporary style and a timeless search the fundamental role of which is played by color.

Colors
Color represents the impacting element of the entire collection. Neutrals and colorful shades intertwine to define a new balance that joins together nature and warmth with powdery and faded effects or lit by summer light.

Neutrals represent the sun, from clear shades of Sand and Safari to burnished Cuban and Sequoia and Iroko woods. Metropolitan elements intervene to enrich a modern dialogue that defines harmonious contrasts: dark medium greys, denim blues, navy, and military khaki. The colorful shades are inspired by the vivid colours of the fruits of the earth, whose brightness reveals a connection with the energy of the casual and sporty garments of the 1980’s, reinterpreted in a modern and sophisticated style. The intensity is divided into two ranges of shades: slightly powdery ones such as pineapple, melon, aquamarine, grapes, strawberry and eggplant, and more energetic but never excessive ones, such as corn, orange, surf, violet and wisteria.

Shapes
Harmony between movement and stillness, focus and action, these combinations express the character of a sophisticated and nonchalant elegance. The jacket is once again the bearer of tailored elegance, close to the body to emphasise the male figure with accurate lines and precious natural fabrics. With the jacket, a variety of shapes and inspirations from the collection mix together. Two fits: the leisure-fit and the smooth-fit for the trousers that, enriched by pleats, cuts and large pockets, take on the fundamental role of implementing style, both in the modern reinterpretation of the suit as well as matched with light knits and the collection’s new accessories. Garment-dying, dyes with enzymes and stone washing give strength to the rhythm of the collection.

Details
Every item of the collection, from t-shirts to trousers, knits to jackets, features elements such as topstitches, rivets and light first-row stitches making it one-of-a-kind, with subtle contrasts between craftsmanship and touches of contemporary style. Horn or metal buttons, silver and gold galvanic details or darker and deeper shades for jackets, suits, trousers and denims. Detail plays a key role also in footwear, particularly in sneakers, where the combination of materials and colors is never too contrasting, encapsulating the perfect balance of the elegant dynamism of the collection.
